Sheeprock Mountains

Located about 6 miles South of Vernon, UT in southern Tooele County is the little-known east-west Sheeprock Mountain Range. A rocky 4wd road up Harker Canyon will take you up to a shady campsite by a small perennial stream. Wildfires have driven many from their original campsites in another range. You can hike to the tallest of the nearby peaks which reached no higher than 9,000 ft. In Harker Canyon there are several dilapidated structures that appear to be the remains of a mining community. The community must have been of some significant size as there are ruins and equipment even away from roads and trails.
