Just wondering if anyone might be interested in doing some exploring on the 15th of November. I have some different ideas in mind. If there is some interest we could head out to what I call the Train Tunnel loop. We start at Little Moab, head west and see some of the mines heading towards Eureka and then head over to the Tintic Standard (old mining town, most of the foundations are still there), swing by my favorite mine shaft called the CopperLeaf (2600 feet) and then we could head down towards the train tunnels, swing across the front of the mountain and look at a few more mines like the Standard Extension (the one that is capped) and maybe a cave or two.
This is all pending on snow of course. The other possibitly if anyone is interested we could head down towards Oak City and visit Stanley's Cave. This cave is one of the most damaged and vandalized caves I have ever been too and would be a good place to start and show why caves are protected so closely. It just takes one person to smash all the cave formations apart and spray paint "Joey loves Suzy" in 37 different colors over every wall. It's actually quite interesting but sad to see. Then we could head over to the Filmore Lava Tubes and see half a dozen lava tubes, the biggest being 2600 feet long called Tabernacle Hill. And of course we would have to head over to the Meadow Hot Springs and see the best hot spring in Utah. It's 102 degrees, no sulpher smell, crystal clear, and about 30 feet deep. It's really fun to play in.
If we head over to Stanley's Cave I would have to cap it at 10 people +/-.
Thanks
Robert
